Alright, so some of you may know, I used to blog about couponing. My real passion was for the healthier side of living so I started this blog and gave up my other one. I wanted to share a few tips with all of you about how to save some dough while eating clean and healthy.
The first tip I have is to shop the sales. Stock up on meat and buy produce when on sale. You can’t stock up on fresh produce unless you are freezing it to make smoothies. However, blueberries, strawberries, and bananas freeze very well to be put into smoothies at a later date. When produce is on sale, it’s in season. That means that it tastes the best it will all year long and it’s not shipped from California or Guatemala for us to be able to eat it. It’s actually grown locally (if you shop at the right stores or farmer’s markets).
My second tip would be to purchase meat in bulk. I recently purchased 4 lbs of pork tenderloin for $8. I was able to cut it up into 3 meals (pork chops, pulled pork, and pork tenderloin whole piece). I cut it up and seasoned it before putting it into the freezer so that my meat is marinating as it’s thawing.
Here’s my third and final tip: We all love the sales that the store has that says if you purchase so much of a certain product, you will receive $5 off your next order. This $5 off your next order coupon would best be used on your meat or produce purchases. There are very rarely if ever coupons for meat or produce.
