Soft Scrub 4-in-1 Toilet Care Review and Giveaway

20130514-173344.jpg

The Soft Scrub brand provides me with a sample of Soft Scrub 4-in-1 Toilet Care in exchange for a product review. However all the opinions expressed here are my own.

I have horribly hard water where I live. I am constantly fighting hard water stains. I also cannot stand the smell of an unclean toilet. When I received the Soft Scrub 4-in-1 toilet care I immediately opened it and put it to the test. Our half bathroom toilet is a high traffic toilet. This 4-in-1 fit perfect on the inside rim of my toilet. You have to flush your toilet as you are hanging it to make sure it’s in the stream of water everytime you flush. The Alpine Fresh with bleach made my toilet smell clean and fresh. Not to mention I didn’t have to clean it every week because everytime you flush it cleans! Perfect for all of us busy ladies!

The best part is that it lasted about a month. It’s less than $2.00 at your local Walmart! What a savings!!

How about I offer 3 lucky readers a coupon to try this out for free?

This giveaway will end on May 25, 2013 at 5:00am EST. I will email the winners, if you do not respond within 24 hours another winner will be chosen.

I’m a marathoner!

20130506-081229.jpg

When we got to the Flying Pig, hubby walked with me to the beginning of the corrals. He kissed me and said, “Good luck, I know you will do great. I think you will finish in 4 hours.” I told him I didn’t think so but was excited that he thinks I’m such a great runner and underestimate myself. We parted ways and I continued to walk to my corral. There was A LOT of military and uniformed police on the way to my corral. I finally got to my corral and immediately started looking for the 4:30 pace group. I found them and introduced myself. They were very excited that this was my first full marathon. I talked to another girl who has never ran with a pace group but ran this race for the last 2 years. She said she usually finishes around 4:30. The national anthem started and we all stood in silence and watched the gorgeous sky as the sun was starting to peek over the horizon. Then the race run went off! We are starting to slowly move. I turned on my music, popped in my headphone and started Garmin locating satellites (if you have a Garmin you know this process can take some time). Finally the start line is approaching. I cross the start line! I stayed with the pace group for the first 2 miles, then I decided I wanted to try it on my own just a little faster.

The crowd support along the course was absolutely phenomenal! It was cool to have some of the uniformed police officers rooting us on. 1 Cincinnati police officer in particular I saw 3 different places along the course. He was awesome! He always has something motivational to say to us runners! My favorite thing he said was, “you ladies are doing great, you could do this all day!” Another woman that was running beside me looked at me and said, “yeah but the whole point is to not do this all day!” I laughed and told her I agreed.

The Flying Pig gave out additional bibs to First Time Marathoners to wear on the course for additional support. I put mine on my back. I received many congratulations and other motivational words from my fellow runners. That was really cool to experience.

As I approached the last 3 miles of the course, I started having those negative thoughts that wanted me to stop. At least I kept going and told myself its only 3 miles, you can do this. When I hit the final mile stretch, I told myself that this is what I trained for. So, I kicked it up a notch and sprinted the last 1.2 miles. I felt amazing crossing that finish line. 4:04:31 was my official time! My hubby was right, I finished right around 4 hours.

My legs didn’t want to stop moving. When I did stop moving to receive my medal, the tightness set in. That is when I experienced “the marathoners walk”. You know what I mean if you are a marathoner. I proceeded to hobble to get my Mylar blanket, water and some nutrition. I texted my hubby that I had finished. I saw my friend Shannon at the PowerBar booth. She hugged me and told me how proud of me she was. She walked with me out of the recovery area until I found my hubby. He gave me a BIG hug and told me congratulations! We got some pictures, I got my free beer and we left the race to enjoy a nice big breakfast at Perkins!

What an amazing day! I’m so excited to be able to call myself a marathoner! I’m already planning another marathon for this fall!

The Pig day is tomorrow!

20130504-085143.jpg

Race day is tomorrow! OMG!! I’m ready but reality is setting in. I’m running 26.2 miles tomorrow morning! I am remembering today the Homeward Bound Greyhound Association and Girls Gone Sporty! Homeward Bound Greyhound Association is who I am running this race for. They are an amazing organization that works diligently to find forever homes for greyhounds. I want to thank Girls Gone Sporty for their monetary donation so that I could donate extra money to the Homeward Bound Greyhound Association!

So many thoughts are racing through my head today. I remember all of my long runs and how I ran them just fine. I even ran in a blizzard this winter training for my first full marathon. I can do this tomorrow. It’s crazy how months of training for a race and then it’s all over in 1 day. It’s gonna be so worth it!

I’m gonna pin my race bib to my shirt tonight. On my back, I will pin on a race bib that say “first time marathoner” that was given to me yesterday! All I will have to do tomorrow is get dressed and get to that start line, my legs and heart will do the rest.

If you are running the Flying Pig tomorrow, I hope to see you! Come and find me! Good luck to everyone racing today and tomorrow

Recipe Tuesday: Spring Salad

Salads don’t have to be boring. They also don’t have to have dressing on them to make them taste great. The key is to make a salad with a variety of colors of fruits and/or veggies! Here’s what I made over the weekend! Yum!

20130421-154455.jpg

Spring Salad

1 1/2 cups fresh spinach leaves
1 mini sweet red bell pepper
1 mini sweet yellow bell pepper
8-10 cherry tomatoes
1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese

Mix together and enjoy! It’s only 150 calories so you can add chicken or a couple eggs to top it off. Would also be great with a piece of Ezekiel toast and an orange

Weight loss and running

20130422-043448.jpg

I am constantly telling my training clients how important healthy eating is in conjunction with weight training and cardio exercise. I, however, got into a rut where I was justifying eating crappy high calorie, high fat foods because I was running a lot of miles. Thanks to a good friend and co-worker, I started tracking my calories on My Fitness Pal almost a month ago. The above picture is from yesterday when I actually felt my body was good enough to get myself a new bikini! Trust me, what you eat makes all the difference in the world! When I started gaining weight from crappy food, it was all in my belly area, which is where everyone wants to lose weight. Just remember flat abs and lean bodies start in the kitchen! Don’t waste your time in the gym if you aren’t gonna fuel your body properly.

If you have any questions about nutrition please leave a comment below because someone else probably has the same questions and wants answers too!

13 days until my first full marathon

I can’t believe in 13 days I will be toeing the start line at my first full marathon, The Flying Pig in Cincinnati Ohio. I am running for the Homeward Bound Greyhound Association. A big thank you to Girls Gone Sporty for their donation to me to be able to donate to the Homeward Bound Greyhound Association! I have been training for this race for the past 16 weeks. I trained in terrible cold winds, snow and even a blizzard. As the weather warms up it does make me a little nervous since I trained in the cold of winter. I’m just hoping for great weather on race day.

I’m beginning the final stretch of my tapered mileage. My body is beginning to recover. I’m going on Saturday to get a massage to loosen up all of my muscles and prep them for the big race day. I’m beginning to think more about my nutrition the week before the race. I’m trying to get all of the info to my friends and family that will be there the day of the race to support me. I have to get all of the stressful things done this week so that next week can be relaxing and restful. Lots of stress before a race could be bad for my race both mentally and physically.

What are your words of advice for me for the days preceding this big race?
